Guests say this all-inclusive, family-friendly property offers enough activities to keep you entertained for days, as well as facilities that make it easy to relax and recharge. We would return to Now Onyx without hesitation. If you're looking for a Punta Cana vacation that balances relaxation and fun, travelers recommend staying at Dreams Onyx Resort & Spa. So, all in all it was a wonderful vacation for us - top notch staff, well prepared food, at a beautiful new resort with a stunning beach and pool areas, and perfect weather. Housekeeping was also good for us, no issues. We ordered drinks to the room a couple times and it always went off without a hitch. We were able to sleep our kids on the pullout couch - it's pretty comfortable and we found extra bedding in the closet - so my husband and I could each have a double bed to ourselves. My only complaint is the leaky shower door. The rooms are good-sized, modern in design and well laid out. One night we were even able to sneak away for dinner at Breathless while they fed our kids and had their 'camping party' - such a treat for us! The shows start a little late for little ones (9:30) but we stuck around for the circus show and variety show and they were great. The ladies took the kids for kayak rides in the pool another day. One day they painted a huge paper mâché dinosaur. Activities our children participated in there included doing crafts and colouring, doing plays on the stage, playing board games and video games, having their faces painted, and eating freshly made cotton candy and popcorn. They give you a cell phone and call you if your kids want to leave. They were friendly and welcoming and we never worried about leaving our children there. While we found all staff at the resort to be impressive, we must give special recognition to the lovely ladies at the Explorers Club: Leidy, Mariella, Elsa and especially Luisa. They provide bottles of water and towels. The gym is open 24 hours and has everything you would want. We were always able to find a couple lounge chairs and appreciated the oversized towels provided by the towel service. The beach is beautiful and well-maintained, with lots of big waves for swimming. The bartenders were great - always having a good time, and the drinks were delicious. Some of the other pools are on the cold side. The kids' pool is very warm and shallow and was perfect for my three year old. We also enjoyed the pool and beach areas. A couple restaurants have kids menus, a nice touch. Service is impeccable - my wine glass never went empty and the dishes were brought out promptly (a must when eating out with small children). It's not gourmet five-star dining but the food is solid. We tried three of the four a la cartes (skipping the French because they didn't seem to have any good options for kids) and one restaurant at Breathless. The staff were attentive in serving drinks and refilling coffee. Our family particularly liked the sushi, ceviches, paella and other fish dishes, fresh squeezed juices and fruit, and the chocolate fountain. The buffet has more options than you could ever need. The food was well above what we have some to expect from all inclusives. I'm surprised at how negative some of the reviews are on here because from our point of view, the resort was great! It exceeded our expectations in most areas. We stayed at Now Onyx for a week in late January with our family of four (me, my husband and our kids, aged three and six).
